CNP Cymru launched

  • Contributor information: CNP

At the end of June we met with partners in Cardiff for the inaugural meeting of our new committee – CNP Cymru – to steer the Campaign for National Parks’ strategy in Wales.

Members include representatives from each of the three Welsh National Park Societies and other bodies such as the Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales,  and the National Association for Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We are delighted that Paul Loveluck, formerly chief executive of the Wales Tourist Board, then of the Countryside Council for Wales, has been appointed to chair CNP Cymru.  He is leading the committee at a challenging time for National Parks, with significant new Welsh Government policy and legislation affecting protected landscapes in Wales.

We look forward to a busy period ahead, and close working with partners as we anticipate the publication of Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Bills towards the end of 2013.
