Pride

At Campaign for National Parks we are fighting for inclusive access to Protected Landscapes as everyone should be able to visit these spaces and thrive in nature. In 1936, we were created to preserve some of the most awe-inspiring parts of the country, for everyone to enjoy. Today, that determination still lives on, and with new threats facing access to National Parks, our fight has never been so important.

June is pride month, a time dedicated to celebrating LGBTQIA+ communities everywhere and our opportunity to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ colleagues, friends and supporters, and reflect on our work to support members of these communities.

We cannot work towards our mission of inspiring action for wilder, inclusive National Parks unless our work is reflective of our values. Our strength comes from the people who work in, for and love National Parks, and Pride is an important time to reflect on how best our work can support the LGBTQIA+ community. National Parks are for everyone, and we must be united if we are to face the challenges of keeping these spaces safe for the future.

What is Campaign for National Parks doing to support an inclusive workplace?

Campaign for National Parks is striving to be an inclusive organisation that offers equal opportunities and provides a safe and welcoming environment. We may be a small team, but we are all dedicated to creating inclusive spaces, not just in National Parks but in our own workspaces.

Launched in 2023, our strategy purposely sets out our intentions to build on our radical roots, centre social and environmental justice in our work, and campaign to ensure National Parks are representative and relevant to the nation today. Our strategy has three goals: better, equal and more National Parks, and we are explicit that securing reforms to address the inequalities in who visits, lives in and governs National Parks is a central plank of our ongoing and future work programme.

We are dedicated to growing and improving our diversity, equity, and inclusion training, and consider how this affects our work in the team and externally. We want everyone to feel like they can be themselves at work and feel comfortable.

We understand that there is always room for improvement and we are committed to learning and growing in ways that will best support our staff and the many groups and individuals we work with.
