New Council for National Parks' Chief Executive

The national charity, the Council for National Parks, has appointed Kathy Moore to be the new chief executive. She succeeds Vicki Elcoate, who is leaving CNP after ten years, five as the Director.

Kathy’s background is in management and human resources.  She has worked for Voluntary Service Overseas, including as Head of Human Resources and Programme Director for VSO Nepal, and is currently a self-employed management consultant for the voluntary sector.  Her interests include hill walking.

Vicki Elcoate,  came to CNP from Independent Television News, where she worked as a journalist.  Her new role is consultancy based, with a part-time post for the UK Environmental Law Association, promoting the organisation and helping develop its profile. 

Kathy starts full-time in March but is working with Vicki Elcoate to ensure a smooth transition in February. Kathy will take forward CNP’s new strategic plan, which will includes a range of activities to deliver CNP’s two key messages:

 National Parks act as beacons for sustainable development
 
 National Parks provide opportunities for quiet enjoyment for all
