Park Protector Award

‘National Parks are a fantastic asset that must never be taken for granted. The Park Protector Award is a wonderful idea and I am delighted to be its patron.’
Nicholas Crane, cartographer, explorer and BBC broadcaster and patron of CNP’s Park Protector Award.

To celebrate our 75th Anniversary CNP is launching a Park Protector Award. This annual award will recognise, reward and celebrate one exceptional project or individual that has made a lasting contribution to the protection, restoration or conservation of our thirteen glorious National Parks. It is a chance to showcase the work of inspiring individuals and ambitious projects that are committed to protecting these iconic landscapes. The categories for nominations are:

  • Restoration – through a distinct project or activity that restores the built or natural heritage of an area in one of the National Parks of England and Wales
  • Protection – through a campaign that leads to the successful protection of a distinct area within one of the National Parks of England and Wales
  • Conservation – through a distinct project or activity that conserves the natural environment and contributes to the biodiversity of one of the National Parks of England and Wales

The award will be open for nominations from September to December 2010. There will be one overall winner, announced in March 2011 and we will be displaying our shortlist of entries here on our website from January.

“Awards are so important for projects like ours. They deliver respect, recognition, help us to secure funding, and are a pat on the back for all our hard work!”
David Smith, Project Officer, Exmoor Mire Restoration Project
