Our 75th anniversary

2011 was an important year for us as we celebrated our 75th anniversary. A lot has happened since we started out in 1936 when a group of outdoor enthusiasts campaigned for the protection of our finest landscapes for everyone to enjoy.

We are proud that the legacy of these early pioneers lives on through our work as the only charity dedicated to protecting and promoting all of the National Parks of England and Wales.

We have achieved so much in 75 years. To celebrate, we spent the year encouraging even more people to “Get into National Parks” – to experience their natural beauty, cultural heritage and wildlife and to understand the threats that they face and what we can, and must, do to protect them.
