Fighting Fund Appeal - target £25,000!
A fighting fund allows us to respond immediately and flexibly to the most urgent threats to our National Parks.
In 2012, we expect to be fighting one of the largest developments ever put forward in a National Park. Boreholes are being sunk into remote parts of the North York Moors National Park to determine how much potash lies underground and a planning application for a large mine to extract potash is likely to be put forward.
We also hope to persuade the government to complete unfinished business from the 1950s by extending the boundaries of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks to include stunning landscapes such as Barbondale, Mallerstang and the northern Howgills.
The recession has affected many charities as sources of public money are cut – and we have not been exempt.
We are a very small charity with a very big job to do. But with your help we can keep National Parks safe, now and in the future.
