General Election fever has swept the country and we are all eager to see what happens on the 6th May.

New Chief Executive
Helen Jackson has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of CNP and takes up her role from today.
Welcoming her, Campaign Chairman Anne Robinson says: ‘Helen comes with a strong background in the charitable and cultural sectors, and a personal passion for the Parks. She is experienced in managing organisations, and will provide leadership to the Campaign at a very challenging time for National Parks and all charities.’

The Campaign for National Parks has appointed a new Chief Executive to champion the protection and promotion of Britain’s most cherished landscapes.
Helen Jackson will take up the role on 1 September.

Park Protector Award
CNP has launched a new Award! The Park Protector Award will showcase the work of inspiring individuals and ambitious projects that are committed to protecting the National Park family of England and Wales. Entry for nominations is now open and closes on 31st December 2010.

This week is National Parks week and millions of people have been visiting the National Parks and enjoying the events and activities that have been organised as a celebration of the Parks’ varied cultural heritage. CNP wants to use this opportunity to encourage people to understand the challenges facing National Parks in the 21st century.

National Park funding warning
The front cover of the Yorkshire Post makes for stark reading as it reports that millions of pounds could be slashed from the budgets of National Park Authorities. Cuts as deep as 35 per cent are being mooted as part of the spending review.
Community Champion wins award
CNP is thrilled that a Mosaic Community Champion has won the Yorkshire Dales Society's 2010 Ken Willson award. Nurjahan Ali Arobi was nominated by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority for her involvement in the Dales over the past 6 years in her role as the Walking for Health coordinator for the NHS.
