National Park funding warning
The front cover of the Yorkshire Post makes for stark reading as it reports that millions of pounds could be slashed from the budgets of National Park Authorities. Cuts as deep as 35 per cent are being mooted as part of the spending review.
CNP's Ruth Chambers responded, 'this news is of huge concern. Funding cuts of this scale would be a disaster and risk undoing many years of hard work. While cutting the Authorities’ budgets would make a small contribution to the short term financial recovery, in the longer term it would prove to be a false economy because of the negative impact on many key functions of the Park Authorities'.
We will be writing to all MPs with National Park constituencies to ask for their help in our campaign to ensure that National Park budgets are protected.
