Support sustainable development

Every year National Park Authorities support projects that encourage sustainable ways of living and working, while enhancing and conserving the local culture, wildlife and landscape. Money received from Defra and the Welsh Assembly Government has enabled each Park to set up a special Sustainable Development Fund (SDF), dedicated to supporting projects on the ground.

MPs are being asked to sign an Early Day Motion to show their support for the fund and its continuation. The EDM recognises that £9.9 million of investment has attracted £42.5 million from other funding sources, created jobs and led to innovative projects which enable rural communities to fulfil their aspirations.

Despite its success the fund is not secure, given the current financial maelstrom. Please help us to send a strong message to Government by asking your MP to sign up to EDM 517 Sustainable Development in National Parks
