National Park Issues

There are a number of issues that affect the National Parks.  National Parks are designated because of their beautiful landscapes and so that people can enjoy them and receive millions of visitors each year who seek out their tranquillity, open spaces and cultural heritage.  Over 90% arrive by private car.  The Parks are also home to many communities where people live and work and cover 10% of England and Wales.  Much of the land area of the parks is in private ownership or cared for by individual farmers.  This leads to a number of challenges, including proposed changes to grants for farmers, climate change, affordable housing and wildlife conservation.
